Things we need for our own SEO

Google Ads Management for Vet Practices.

Google Ads that don't read like ads

The ad's job is small and important: put your clinic in front of the right pet parent at the right time. This page shows how ours are built, wired and tuned.

What ads are for:

Some pet parents search in an emergency at 9pm. Others have a new puppy and compare clinics for a week. An ad's job is to be there at that moment, saying something true, and to earn one click.

An ad cannot make a stranger trust you. That job belongs to the website, and we wrote a whole page on how we build for it.

Ads are the fast channel. SEO builds over months; an ad can be in front of pet parents this week. And if your books are already full, we will tell you not to run them. One of our seven clinics runs no ads at all, because they do not need them yet.

Stage 1 / Research

Everything here happens before a dollar is spent. The account is planned against your real competitors and your real suburbs.

We read your competitors' ads first

Google publishes every ad a business runs. We pull the ads from the clinics around you and see what they all say, because your ad has to sit next to theirs.

Five copywriter minds write every ad

The ads are written with the uniqueness found in research, debated by five copywriter minds until Google rates them Excellent and they still sound like your clinic.

Keywords chosen to control what you spend

Match types and negative keywords decide exactly which searches can spend your money, and how widely each keyword is allowed to reach. That is set keyword by keyword, before launch.

Shown only where your clients come from

Targeting is set by real drive times, not a circle on a map. A suburb twenty minutes up the highway matters more than one across a bridge nobody crosses.

Checked against the advertising rules

Every ad is reviewed against your state veterinary board's advertising guidelines and consumer law before it runs. We once made a client delete "#1 vet" from their own site, so the board never had to ask.

Stage 2 / Setup

A campaign is only as smart as what it can see. This stage connects everything, so Google learns from real calls and bookings.

Tracking goes in first

Before any campaign runs, every call, form and booking is wired up, so results are counted from day one.

Every account connected

Google Ads, Analytics, Search Console and Tag Manager all feed each other. Every real call and booking goes back to Google, and its bidding learns which clicks were worth paying for.

Every call is tracked to its ad

Many pet parents call rather than book online. A tracking number shows which search and which ad made the phone ring, so no result goes missing.

Blocking the wrong searches

Ad groups get layers of negative keywords, so searches like free advice or job listings never spend your money.

A page built for the search

For big services we build the page the ad lands on, shaped to that search. Only ad clicks ever see it, so it never competes with your own search rankings, and Google charges less when page and search truly match.

Stage 3 / Tuning

Every week, AI reads the whole account: every search, suburb, time of day and dollar, against our vet campaigns going back to 2020. It works out the likely reason, and we decide what to do. AI never writes a word a pet parent reads.

The weekly audit

The account throws off more rows than a person could read. The audit reads all of them: which suburbs and times pay off, where budget is being lost to rank, how each landing page scores, and what competitors changed. Watch items carry forward week to week.

Finding the wasted spend

Searches drift, and money follows. The audit hunts for spend that brought nothing, and it gets turned off.

Changing how Google bids

At the start the account bids for clicks: Maximise Clicks, in Google's terms. Once enough real calls and bookings are tracked, we switch it to Maximise Conversions, so Google chases bookings instead. We time that switch on the data.

FAQ

  • How much do I need to spend on ads?

It depends on your suburbs and the services you want more of. We recommend a number after the competitor research, and you see where every dollar of it went.

  • How long until it works?

Tracking shows from the first week. The ads usually settle over the first 4 weeks and improve from there. You can watch it move the whole way, so nothing rests on our word.

  • We tried Google Ads before and it didn't work

The old account usually shows why: calls that were never tracked, no negative keywords, ads that read like everyone else's. We read the old account first, so the rebuild starts from what actually happened.

  • Is the ad budget marked up?

No. Your ad budget goes to Google at cost, and we never add a margin to it. What you spent and what you paid us sit in the report, line by line.
